![]() The first half of 2016 was a time of deep reflection for me. What do I really want out of life? What was actually important? Would the 7 year old Agnes and the 70 year old Agnes approve of the way I was living? What would truly make them proud?
These thoughts intersected with my meeting two people. Keith and I are exactly 30 years apart in age, but grew incredibly close this past year in friendship. His stories of wild, adventurous travels made me envious; he helped me realize that I haven't quite lived the life that I wanted. His stories aided the formation of new dreams. And Rebecca, her trust in God was so great and deep even when her heart was pulling her toward something crazy (like moving her family with two young children to a different state while her husband and her were jobless). Her confidence helped me to take the leap, to chase after these new dreams. Pre-2016 Agnes ran a local nonprofit, saving the world 300 children at a time. Post-2016 Agnes will be working on her side business, climbing the walls of rock gyms and beyond, hoping she saved up enough money for her mortgage, and traveling the world. Likely still contemplating how she can make the world better. I created this blog to even better document my travels. I have these google spreadsheets, used for planning purposes, that are kept updated with recommendations, tips, and itineraries. Friends love them and it's a great way to share my recs without thinking too hard about it. This blog will provide the narrative to those spreadsheets and hopefully help a few people along the way as they plan their travels. This way my OCD is put to better use than it already is. |
